Dr Monica Crooks provides invisible braces for patients in Sacramento

Invisalign

Invisalign is the clear way to improve your smile without the use of metal braces.

Unlike traditional metal braces that use metal wire and brackets, Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners to correct crooked, uneven and overlapping teeth. Because they are barely noticeable, some dentists refer to this as "invisible braces."

How it’s made?
After your Doctor decides that you need Invisalign, impressions and images of your teeth will be taken. Using an advanced 3D imaging equipment, these impressions and images will be digitalized to create a plan, which shows in detail how your teeth will move during the duration of treatment. Then, your doctor will create a set of aligners (usually 20-30 pieces) that you have to wear while undergoing the process.

How to use Invisalign?
Using Invisalign could never be simpler:

  • Wear your aligners at least 22 hours a day
  • Remove them only when eating and brushing your teeth
  • In approximately 2 weeks, your teeth begin to move. At this time you have change to another aligner
  • Visit your doctor to check the progress
  • Treatment is usually between 6 months to one year. Sometimes, it may take up to 18 months.

Invisalign when compared with traditional braces:

Removable – Problems with eating, drinking, brushing and flossing are often the reasons why many refuse to wear metal braces. With Invisalign, you can normally do all these activities as you can easily remove your aligners whenever you have to.

Discrete – Unlike metal brackets that are usually noticeable, no one can tell that you are wearing aligners.

Comfortable –Invisalign frees you from wearing metal braces that cause abrasion. Also, you don’t have to visit your doctor regularly for adjustments.

Clean – Since you can remove aligners during treatment, you can brush and floss your teeth normally. This is impossible with braces as the wire and metal brackets hinder you to reach the entire area of tooth and gum even with orthodontics toothbrush.
